Cruse and the BSA launch new tools to deliver Gold Standard Bereavement Care′ - Tuesday 13th May, 2014
Today (13 May 2014) Cruse Bereavement Care and the Bereavement Services Association are sharing new tools developed as part of the Gold Standard Bereavement Care Project.
There is often a gap′ between the bereavement care provided to families, friends and carers when a patient dies in hospital, and those services provided in the community. The Gold Standard Bereavement Care Project worked to address this.
The new Bereavement Care Service Standards http://bsauk.org/uploads/593853480.pdf were launched earlier this year, and today the other strands of the programme – an online bereavement pathway http://bereavement.bsauk.org/ , and the 'Gold Standards Bereavement Care Training' - shared training, will be launched at the conference Making a Difference - Delivering compassionate end of life, dementia and bereavement care. The conference is the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust′s 5th National conference, held in collaboration with the National Council for Palliative Care and Dying Matters Coalition.

Bereaved people are vulnerable. They are facing the worst time of their lives. As individuals and as services we owe it to them to deliver the highest quality care we can. They deserve nothing less than gold standard bereavement care. These tools will help deliver this.

It is a wonderful opportunity to share the great work that Cruse and the BSA have worked together on for the last 6 years. We hope the tools developed will be a valuable resource for all those delivering bereavement care.
